If a patient shows several clinical pictures, then often several doctors treat with a variety of different medica­tions. The inter­ac­tions and possible side effects, as well as the risks arising from the use of various medica­tions, cannot be overlooked by the individual treating doctor. So it was obvious to consol­idate all infor­mation in the patient’s interest with the help of the electronic health card.

In addition to improving patients’ rights, the costs and efficiency of admin­is­trative commu­ni­cation are to be optimised and admin­is­trative proce­dures are to be modernised. From the beginning of the project, the scope of services and functions of the electronic health card has been subject to constant discussion.

The distributed system landscape of the electronic health card consists of the complex inter­action of hardware and software, front and backend systems, chip cards, terminals and organ­i­sa­tional concepts.

SRC accom­panied the project electronic health card from the speci­fi­cation, the design of the public key infra­structure and the evalu­ation of the approved terminals to the evalu­ation of the backend systems.
