If a patient presents with several clinical pictures, then often several doctors treat with a variety of different medicines. The interactions and possible side effects, as well as the risks arising from the administration of different medicines, are not manageable for the individual treating physician. So it was obvious to consolidate all information in the interest of the patient with the help of the electronic health card.
In addition to strengthening patients’ rights, the costs and efficiency of administrative communication are to be optimised and administrative processes modernised. From the beginning of the project, the scope of services and functions of the electronic health card has been subject to constant discussion.
The distributed system landscape of the electronic health card consists of the complex interaction of hardware and software, front- and back-end systems, smart cards, terminals and organisational concepts.
SRC has accompanied the electronic health card project from the specification, the design of the public key infrastructure and the evaluation of the approved terminals to the assessment of the backend systems.
